Destination Achieved by Marian Myers

It should just be a distant memory and yet I remember the thrill of that very first ride so clearly.

The sheer exhilaration had caused the blood to pump through my veins, as I’d galloped over the downs, urging my steed onwards towards the patch of light that I never quite reached, despite my best efforts. Then, almost at will, I had reached my destination.

If only every other goal subsequently could have been attained so easily. That memorable day, I had simply dismounted from the rocking horse, my destination achieved. What a shame I had had to grow up.
